TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

The Global Educational Trust's initiative in the UK is to provide books and reading materials free of charge to all people in communities via our "G E T Free Books" Shops on High Streets. We currently have over 25 shops throughout the UK and last year we very proudly gave away more than 1 million books. Our most recent shop is in the Princess of Wales Shopping Precinct in Dewsbury W Yorkshire. We are inviting volunteers to help run the shop. The roles of volunteers can range between taking in donations of books, sorting and categorising them and putting them out on the shop shelves, and organising the volunteer team rota to ensure the shop is open. We aim to open our shops between the hours of 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
We would love to hear from anyone wanting to become part of the G E T team and whether for whole or part days you would be welcomed as a valuable member of the volunteer team.
Based at the Princess of Wales Shopping Precinct in Dewsbury.
Our volunteers help in many aspects of running our shops. From taking in donations of books, sorting them, categorising them and putting them out for customers to take, to helping people find the kind of book or title they are looking for. Greeting people with a smile and generally being helpful to customers. The books are free, so there is no till to reconcile. Our volunteers in our other 25 shops really enjoy their time with their customers in the shops.
