TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

hoot creative arts is a local arts and health organisation that promotes mental health, supports personal growth and facilitates social change. We give people the chance to explore identity, emotional wellbeing, purpose & meaning in a safe, expressive & welcoming environment.
As specialists working with adults with mental health needs alongside a committed team of experienced professional, community artists, we offer a full programme of quality creative activities with proven benefits for mental health and wellbeing.
We work with older people too, including pioneering work using the arts with people living with dementia conditions and their carers.
We believe that everyone has a creative capacity that can help them grow and develop, and that through supporting people to flourish as individuals and groups we can help communities and wider society to grow too.
We have four opportunities to volunteer with hoot creative arts at our weekly creative groups. If you’re excited to try out new art forms, curious about different ways of being creative, and want to help others to do the same then volunteering with hoot as a Group Support Volunteer might be the perfect fit for you.
Group Support Volunteers attend our weekly groups and support the hoot team. This might include:
- Welcoming people to the session.
- Helping to set up the room and tidy up afterwards.
- Making drinks for participants.
- Taking part in the activity (singing, music making, creating art).
- Offering creative ideas and suggestions during the group.
- Getting ready to help the group record, perform and showcase work at an exhibition.
- Keeping an eye out for anyone who looks unsure or uncomfortable.
