TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Auntie Pam’s Supporting Mums to be is a peer support volunteer run service based in Dewsbury and Huddersfield. We provide a range of services, including a drop-in information and signposting service (covering things like housing, benefits, domestic violence, healthy eating, mental health, breastfeeding, stopping smoking and baby/child development). We also have a swap shop which provides free pre-loved baby clothing and equipment, which has kindly been donated by families within the local communities. Auntie Pam’s is a customer led service, and has at its heart the women and families of Kirklees. We support women, their partners and their families during pregnancy and the first years of becoming a parent.
Are you a mum living in Kirklees? Can you spare three hours or more a week?
We are looking for Peer Support Volunteers to be first point of contact for women using the Auntie Pam’s service. You will provide support and assist women in making positive lifestyle changes. It’s about being there to listen and sharing your own experiences of being a mother.
The Peer Support Volunteer role will be based at 2 New Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2AR.
Your main tasks will be:
• Giving friendly support and encouragement to clients
• Giving information and signposting clients to other local services
• Keeping client records up to date
• Making refreshments for the clients
• Maintain confidentiality
• Keeping the Centre clean and tidy
• Providing Outreach Services in Kirklees
These tasks are not all that you will be doing, it is up to you how you wish to develop your own role as a Peer Support Volunteer.
Full training is provided to help you become a confident and skilled volunteer offering support and information, as well as using your valuable experiences as a parent. You won’t need formal qualifications to apply for our training programme, just a commitment to volunteer.
You’ll be working in a small team, supported by senior volunteers to develop and use your volunteering skills. After volunteering regularly with us for a while, if you want to, we can support you with learning and training opportunities for your own needs and ambitions as well as helping us to add to our delivery of first-class services for Auntie Pam’s.
