TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

We are a charity that cares for 2000 miles of waterways. We believe life is better by water and we're working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. We know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions .Our work involves not only looking after our waterways, but promoting them widely to the eight million plus people who have waterways on their doorstep so that many more people benefit from our free, accessible and local source of wellbeing
Join us for an enjoyable day’s work on the beautiful Huddersfield Canals. Sessions can be bespoke to the participants and company requirements. Tasks will vary and change with the seasons – but could include lock maintenance, painting, vegetation management, planting, towpath repair, wildlife habitat improvements, litter picking and much more. Volunteering with the Trust offers a great way to get outside and active, learn new practical skills and improve you local waterway environment.
All safety procedures and work instructions will be given on the day, you just need to be willing to get stuck in and get dirty. All tools and equipment will be provided, together with expert and friendly support. Sessions are also fully risk assessed and paperwork can be provided.
