TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees

This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.

We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly.  Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Whether you can give a little time or a lot, your support can help an older person live the life they choose.

Role Description

Help older people stay active, independent, and connected.

Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees is a local charity, proudly affiliated with Age UK, supporting older people across Calderdale and Kirklees to live independently, safely, and with dignity.

For many older people, getting out and about isn’t always easy. As a Volunteer Minibus Driver, you’ll play a vital role in helping people access our Wellbeing Centres, activities, and social opportunities — often becoming a friendly, familiar face they look forward to seeing.

What you’ll be doing

As a Volunteer Minibus Driver, you’ll:

  • Safely drive our minibus to pick up and drop off clients
  • Help passengers on and off the vehicle when needed
  • Offer a friendly welcome and reassurance throughout the journey
  • Work closely with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth, safe trips

Routes are local, and you’ll receive full guidance and support.

When you’ll volunteer

  • Typically daytime hours, often linked to Wellbeing Centre sessions
  • Once a week, with flexibility to suit your availability

What’s in it for you

Volunteering as a Minibus Driver is rewarding and social. You’ll:

  • Make a real difference by helping people stay connected
  • Enjoy meeting new people and building relationships
  • Gain satisfaction from a valued, trusted role
  • Be part of a friendly, supportive local team
  • Have your expenses covered and receive full support

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers with:

  • A full driving licence
  • Confidence driving a minibus and working with people
  • A caring, patient approach

No previous volunteer experience is needed — just a willingness to help.
