TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees

This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.

We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly.  Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

About the Organisation

Born from one mum’s struggle to find the care her son needed, Forget Me Not is here to provide essential care to children with life-shortening conditions, their families and families living with the loss of their child across West Yorkshire.

Role Description

Role based at Manchester Road, Huddersfield, HD1 3JF (free onsite parking available)

Role Purpose:                    

To inspect and test donated electrical items to ensure they are safe and suitable for sale.

 

Tasks & activities

  • Carry out visual inspections of donated electrical items to identify obvious damage, wear or missing parts.
  • Check plugs, cables and fuses before items are approved for sale or use.
  • Label tested items clearly as passed or failed in accordance with shop process.
  • Opportunity to also assist in other shop activities, such as sorting donations and working on the till.

Personal qualities & experience

You will need to have a basic confidence in handling electrical items and using testing equipment.

 

For this role you will need to be:

  • Friendly and enthusiastic
  • Honest, reliable and have a willingness to learn

 

As one of our volunteers, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Receive a full induction with continued support to further grow your skills and confidence
  • Build on personal development and have the option to undertake Level 2 training

 

Manchester Road Shop Opening Hours:

Mon-Sat: 9am-4.30pm, Sun: 10am-4pm
