TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire.
We’re here for any family confronted with the news their child has a life-shortening condition, however, wherever and whenever they need us. By providing superb nursing care, hydrotherapy, creative therapy, days out, memory making, end of life care, bereavement support and counselling, Forget Me Not helps families make the most of every moment they have together.
We need to raise over £4 million a year to keep doing what we do – and with less than 6% of that coming from the government, we rely on our local community to help us continue to be here for the children and families who need us.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) rates us as ‘outstanding’. This puts us in the top 1% of all of the organisations they inspect.
Our shop is based at 10 Swallow Lane, Golcar HD7 4LU.
In this role you will be supported by our Trading Team who will give you all the support you need to get the most value from your time.
What will I be doing?
The role of Shop Assistant Volunteer may include; Handling money, introducing gift aid to donors, promoting the Forget Me Not lottery, sorting and steaming clothes, serving customers, housing keeping and merchandising.
Your donation of time is great – we offer flexibility; we’d like to offer you half a day per week
It is helpful if you have done this sort of work before, however it is not essential because you will be trained to do the tasks we ask you to do. If you work in the shop you will need to be comfortable talking to members of the public and handling money. We are looking for volunteers who are;
honest, reliable and trustworthy and have the ability to ask for help when needed. We would like you to be open, positive & passionate about what we do as a charity.
As a volunteer you will be a representative of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. As such we expect you to be well presented, polite and to give a positive message about the work of the charity.
All our volunteers are encouraged to attend training and volunteer meetings whenever possible and we offer a full induction and training for the role and travel expenses.
