TSL Kirklees Volunteering is the official Volunteer Centre for Kirklees
This means that we’re here to help you get started on your volunteering journey and support you through the process.
We also make sure that any groups or charities that advertise for volunteers on our website will look after their volunteers properly. Some of them will have a stamp of approval called the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award (KVQA), which means that they’ve done even more to make sure that their volunteers are valued and have a good experience.

Our vision is to deliver pioneering care through pregnancy, childhood and loss, whenever families need us, whatever their future holds.
We do this by:
- Offering high quality, bespoke, specialist services for mums and dads to be, babies, children, and their families, coping with life-limiting conditions and living with loss
- Being inclusive, accessible and available 24/7 in our hospice, at home, in hospital and in our communities
- Ensuring every penny raised and every minute gifted is focussed on the needs of the families we support.
Role Purpose:
To assist our charity shop team in raising the essential funds which allow us to continue supporting local children and their families.
Days/ times available: We are looking for volunteers on a Wednesday afternoon and Saturdays. Please note, you must be over 18 to apply for our Saturday roles.
Tasks and activities:
Supporting with the day-to-day running of our charity shop, in which some of the activities may include:
- Handling, processing and attractively displaying donations
- Providing excellent customer service and serving members of the public on the till
- Being an advocate for Forget Met Not by promoting the work we do and the importance of raising funds.
Personal qualities and experience:
You will need to have an interest in retail and customer service. Previous experience of working in retail is useful, but not essential as full training will be provided.
For this role you will need to be:
- Friendly and enthusiastic
- Honest, reliable and have a willingness to learn
- Self-aware as well as able to reflect on your own experiences and feelings
