Volunteers and the Law

Andrew Marsden from local solicitors Brearley’s Solicitors offered his time, professional knowledge and skills to benefit local community groups and other voluntary organisations from across Kirklees. The session was held on 7th February in a room provided free of charge by Oxfam Online in Batley, and we welcomed over 20 attendees from a diverse range of voluntary organisations. Topics included health and safety, insurance, safer recruitment, and advice and guidance was provided about individual enquiries.

If you are a Kirklees Business interested in a volunteering project (either as a one-off or on a regular basis) please contact: Sharron Wilkinson at Volunteering Kirklees sharron@vkirklees.org.uk tel. 01484 519053.

How did it go?

“As a firm Brearley’s believes in being part of the community that we serve, and that includes doing what we can to help support community and other groups who work hard to do the same, especially volunteer organisations.”

Sharron Wilkinson from Volunteering Kirklees said

“We are extremely grateful to Brearley’s for their professional know how. Their knowledge is hugely beneficial to groups. We think the feedback from one of the delegates below sums up the session..”

.. “Everything I have learnt today was of value and will assist in my role-Thank you” “
