Pandemic Volunteering Stories – Joan, Cleckheaton Food bank
After retiring I needed to feel useful, so I contacted the foodbank to see if I could help. I also Volunteer as a Telephone Befriender with Age UK.
I started with the Foodbank in May 2020, in my role I pack the bags which are then delivered by other volunteers. It is very satisfying to be helping people directly, knowing you are putting food on the table for them. I volunteer with a lovely bunch of people, in the time of lockdown it has been a great way of having contact with others.
