introducing wellness works

a new tsl kirklees managed project to help local people lead healthy working lives

what is wellness works?

Wellness Works is a Kirklees-wide programme designed to support people with health-related barriers to employment. It brings together local organisations, communities, and health services to help individuals improve their wellbeing, build confidence, and move closer to volunteering, training or work, through a package of personalised support and local solutions.

Who’s it for?

The programme is for people 18+ in Kirklees who are:

  • Out of work, or at risk of leaving work, due to a physical or mental health condition
  • Would benefit from personalised support to build confidence, wellbeing, and skills
  • Looking for meaningful ways to reconnect with their community – through volunteering, training or employment

People can refer themselves or be referred by a GP, social prescribers, or support worker.

who’s involved?

Wellness Works is led by TSL Kirklees, in partnership with trusted community organisations and health partners across the four areas of Kirklees.

We’re working with the TSL Kirklees Community Anchor networkCommunity Champions network, local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and other health colleagues and services to create a network of Health Hubs and Keyworkers.

This activity is part of Healthy Working Life, a joint programme of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, delivering the Mayor’s vision for West Yorkshire to have the healthiest residents and workforce in England by 2040.
