JAKE'S STORY - CHAIR OF ALMONDBURY BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
WHAT IS YOUR VOLUNTEER ROLE?
I am now Chair of the organisation before that I was Vice Chair and before that Project Lead.
WHAT DO YOU GET INVOLVED WITH?
I was initially involved with gathering bits together for a CCTV project, this entailed finding suppliers, contacting Kirklees Council, communicating consultation plans. I have recently also coordinated a local art installation with the 2 local schools (King James’s School and Almondbury Community School) with positive quotes and messages all around the village. It was a real collaboration between different people and organisations..
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT VOLUNTEERING?
“It’s such a rewarding thing to spend your free time doing”
“It converts in to happiness and satisfaction doing something really worthwhile. The rewards for me personally are that I can do a lot of good. It makes me happy and I am surrounded by some fantastic people and amazing volunteers. People who want to help others, its so rewarding
