get involved: opportunity to showcase your health, social care & wellbeing work to an audience of west yorkshire health professionals

starting 16th january 2023, the week-long online #VCSEpower showcase event will champion how the VCSE sector supports our workforce and communities

Under the new Integrated Care System in England, our sector is now a recognised partner.

Starting in March this year, the new West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership decided to host a quarterly online showcase event celebrating the positive impact that our sector has on local health outcomes, and sharing the expertise and good practice that our organisations demonstrate. Each of VCSE infrastructure support organisations (like TSL Kirklees), in the 5 ‘places’ in West Yorkshire, get the chance to submit evidence of the great health, social care or wellbeing-related work in their area. This is then collated and promoted to local health and social care colleagues across the region, via themed days, social media, shareable resources and online events.

Get Involved

Book Now (via Eventbrite): Events to take part in during the week:

  • An introduction to the Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub 17th January – this is an online resource, set up to help support health and social care staff, but which is also open to staff and volunteers from any VCSE organisation particularly for volunteer and line managers to learn how to use it & signpost their teams
  • You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup – A VCSE Schwartz Round 18th January (a particular facilitated forum used by health workers to explore the mental health impacts of their job) particularly focussed on how VCSE workers can make sure they look after themselves whilst looking after others. Each session has 3 ‘storytellers’ who talk abut their experiences as part of the session. (See below to find out how to put yourself forward as a storyteller.)

Opportunities:

  • Showcasing your work: VCSE groups that support people’s health, wellbeing and social care can showcase their work (via any format e.g. report, case studies, video, images, presentation, podcast, infographic etc). These should be sent to us at comms@tslkirklees.org.uk by Monday 9th January.
  • Volunteer as a ‘Storyteller’ for the VCSE Schwartz Round: A VCSE group can volunteer themselves as a ‘storyteller’ for the Schwartz round event & share their story of the sorts of impacts they’ve experienced or the impacts they’ve seen in others that they work with, and/or the sort of support they needed/have accessed. You will be helped to prepare for/do this by the facilitator, and will be reimbursed for your time (normally £22ph & you will need to be available for a maximum of 2hrs). 3 ‘storytellers’ are needed for the event (from the whole of West Yorkshire). Please confirm ASAP if you would like to volunteer by contacting gemma.conway2@nhs.net
  • The next showcase will be week commencing 27th March and will the anniversary of the first showcase. The suggestion is that each of the 5 ‘places’ in West Yorkshire has a day each to promote the health-related work of their local smaller grassroots organisations. However, if you think that it would be useful to promote something else in Kirklees, please let us know – comms@tslkirklees.org.uk.
